AQUARIUS ZEN GARDEN
Don’t be fooled by the tranquil name—Aquarius Zen Garden delivers high-voltage, beat-driven soundscapes. Formed by Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti, Jochem van Tol, and Jacob Maskell-Key, the trio first came together in an improvised performance at the C.A.L.L. Festival at Plantage Dok while playing BIMHUIS and more after. Together, they sculpt explosive electronic textures layered with danceable rhythms and intricate detail.

CARTA PESTO
Carta Pesto channels raw garage energy with a playful mix of electronics and instrumental skill. This adventurous trio – Marco Luparia, Beatrice Sberna, and Sara Guidolin – blends experimental textures with contagious fun. Expect gritty vocals, electric bass lines, and bursts of piano improvisation. Rooted in Amsterdam’s vibrant scene, they bring a DIY spirit and fearless spontaneity, embracing the joyful chaos of the moment while staying true to the art of improvisation.

JACOB MASKELL-KEY
Also known as Spooky-J, Jacob Maskell-Key is a master of percussive intensity and atmospheric tension. As a solo artist and a driving force in collectives like Nihiloxica and Spooky Shit, he merges drum power with electronic grit in strikingly original ways. Jacob’s sound is raw, unpredictable, and built for movement—expect breakneck rhythms and sonic depth that defies genre.

MOTHER TONGUE
A Senegalese Griot singer, a Dutch improviser and a Puerto Rican jazz drummer find each other within one of the most electrifying Amsterdam bands of the moment. Mother Tongue seizes the now with a poetic, fiery blend of musical languages. Vocalist and percussionist Mola Sylla brings haunting, rhythmic depth rooted in the griot tradition of his native Dakar—where storytelling through music, dance, and theatre plays a central cultural role. He’s joined by Amsterdam’s own Oscar Jan Hoogland, a fearless improviser and the final student of the late legend Misha Mengelberg, and the brilliant Frank Rosaly, who’s been involved in the improvised scene since 2001, when he became an integral part of Chicago’s musical fabric. Equipped with an m’bira, a xalam, a drum kit, a voice, percussion, household tools and an electric clavichord on 220 volt, they sit down and take off: Wrrrrrraaang!
