Aviv Noam / Gard Nilssen / Omer Govreen
Jazz and skilled trio action. Saxophonist Aviv Noam, who previously won the prestigious Dutch Jazz Competition with his Quartet, draws inspiration from the avant-garde of the 1950s and ’60s, infusing his performances with chaos and melodic grooves. Nordic drummer and composer Gard Nilssen will be coming specifically for this concert, representing his unique and avant-garde scene, known for his work with Acoustic Unity Band, Supersonic Orchestra—both of which have previously performed in the Netherlands—as well as Amgala Temple and Bushman’s Revenge. Completing the trio is Omer Govreen, a familiar stage-mate of Aviv and a double bass player active in various formations, including his own Quartet, which also features during the fall series, playing an eclectic mix of simplicity and complexity.
Aviv Noam – saxophone | Gard Nilssen – drums | Omer Govreen – double bass
Omer Govreen Quartet
Emotive and daring, Omer Govreen’s quartet features, of course, Omer himself, along with Aleksander Sever, Wouter Kline, and Floris Kappeyne. After releasing their acclaimed album Maya in 2022, you can expect elegant yet raw, propulsive and melodic music presented with verve on stage.
Omer Govreen – double bass | Aleksander Sever – vibraphone | Floris Kappeyne – piano | Wouter Kühne – drums
Ken Vandermark / Terrie Ex
Terrie Ex and Ken Vandermark’s collaboration is marked by energetic and raw interaction, exploring the contrasts in their longlasting craftsmanship. Vandermark’s sharp, turbulent reed rhythms and Terrie’s intense, dynamic guitar play come together to create an improvisational sound with a touch of humor.
