The last weekend of August (27-29) De Ruimte presents a full-blown festival celebrating the summer, free jazz, improv sounds, inimitable dance rhythms & inquisitive ears! We do take everything into account; it will be pandemic-proof acoustic and amplified performing arts, in – and outside the “new” base of Sexyland World!

DOING IT TOGETHER
The outside concerts are all acoustic because of our neighbors. To create the best possible, intimate atmosphere, the artists need your full attention. If you do want to catch with someone, feel free to explore the building.
Because of the current Covid regulations, the concert hall has limited capacity. If you absolutely want to see a certain act, we advise you to come early. Also, a few of the acts play more than once, so you might have a second chance.

JOSKE KONING
Joske Koning (1989) is actress, singer, writer and theater maker. In 2015 she founded the poetry band the Selfkickers, with which she cites the poems of Johnny van Doorn to improvised music. They performed at De Wereld Draait Door, Lowlands and the Peepshowpalace Festival.

KUHN FU
KUHN FU describes itself as a paranoid prog punk jazz performance. Does this sound weird?…well they are still a hairy fish with legs that can climb a tree.

BACCHANALIA
The sextet Bacchanalia makes venues and stages sweat and explode with their addictive concoction. The enchanting Spanish-African rhythms and the raw explosive sounds of saxophone, guitar and percussion heat up the band sound, as if it is a fiery fire-spitting monster.

Lidy Blijdorp is a young, passionate cellist with enormous narrative power, praised for her ‘breathtaking musicality’ (Amsterdamse Cellobiennale).

JOACHIM BADENHORST
Reed player Joachim Badenhorst (1981) is known for his narrative and melodic improvisations and for his musical urge to explore. He is not tied to a particular style and is broadly oriented. He is not afraid to sing, try out the piano, guitar, percussion, electronics and anything that intrigues him, as long as it fits.
