EVAN ZIPORYN SEXTET
The music of American composer/conductor/clarinetist Evan Ziporyn (1959) has taken him from Balinese temples to concert halls all over the world. His orchestral version of David Bowie’s latest album, Blackstar, was recently released on Islandia Music, with Ziporyn conducting his own Ambient Orchestra with Maya Beiser, cello soloist. From 1992 to 2012, Ziporyn was music director, producer and composer/arranger of the Bang on a Can Allstars, which won Musical America’s Ensemble of the Year award in 2005. He has also recorded and toured with Paul Simon (You’re the One) and the Steve Reich Ensemble, which won a Grammy for Best Chamber Music Performance in 1998.
Tonight Evan Ziporyn plays together with five reknown faces from the Amsterdam music scene: Fie Schouten, Tatiana Koleva and Guus Janssen.

TRIO AMADOU/CAMBIEN/REMPIS
This brand new transatlantic collaboration joins three renowned improvisers in a first time matchup that promises to be stellar.
Rapidly rising talent on electric bass Farida Amadou has been shaking up the European improvised music scene since she first started playing the instrument in 2011. She’s participated in high-flying collaborations with heavyweight improvisers like Peter Brotzmann, Steve Noble, and Thurston Moore, many of which have been documented on the Antwerp-based Dropa Disc label.
Jonas Cambien on piano, a fellow Belgian like Amadou, has been living in Norway since 2008, where he’s become an integral part of the thriving Norwegian improvised music scene. He works regularly with his own trio featuring saxophonist André Roligheten and Andreas Wildhagen on drums, and he’s also a founding member of the contemporary music ensemble Aksiom.
Saxophonist Dave Rempis is no stranger to Dutch audiences, having performed regularly since around 2000 with countless bands including The Rempis Percussion Quartet, Ballister, Kuzu, The Engines, and The Vandermark Five.
Taking advantage of a meeting planned for the Visitations Residency program in Antwerp this November, these three plan to extend that collaboration into an opportunity to both record and perform for the first time as a trio with a few concerts around Belgium and Netherlands.
FRANK ROSALY SOLO
Frank Rosaly is an American drummer, composer and sound designer After 15 years of musical exploration and development with over 50 musical projects in Chicago from 2001-2016, Frank moved to Amsterdam to further develop his musical approach in a new environment including the worlds of music theater, intermediality, sound installation and electronic music synthesis. although he still plays frequently within the context of experimental and improvised musics. Additionally, Frank has been featured on over 150 recordings.
He is also involved in a solo project called Milkwork: a study in integration of electronically manipulated percussion instruments, improvising dense sound walls with controlled feedback, over-driven amplified drums. Frank blends soundscapes designed through analog electronic synthesis with extended techniques on unamplified drum set. Frank also studies cymbal hammering and instrument building, and utilizes these physical experiments within this project.
