A diverse and experimental Space Impro edition with the highly original Oktopus Connection Ensemble, combining art, games, theater and music, the brilliant musicians Ernst Glerum and Joris Roelofs, playing as a duo for the first time, and the young, energetic duo of the Italian Giovanni Iacovella and Danish Teis Semey.

Oktopus Connection Ensemble

Oktopus Connection Ensemble features some of the bravest improvisers from Den Haag and Rotterdam. Graphic scores, game pieces, chance music, free jazz, surrealistic musical theatre are some of the ingredients the group make use of, combining experimental and adventurous sounds with a playful, joyful and irreverent attitude. The Ensemble now combines up to 10 musicians coming from different backgrounds, from jazz to classical to experimental, and the instrumentation ranges from traditional instruments to DIY electronics, toy instruments, found objects.

This just might be the birth of a new wonderful duo! Reeds player Joris Roelofs and double bass player/pianist Ernst Glerum, both incredible versatile musicians and active in the international music scene for years, will join forces for the first time. They are both known for their improvising qualities as well as for their deep musical involvement, both in theory and in practice.

Light-bending electro-acoustic avant-garde indie duo between Italian Giovanni Iacovella and Danish Teis Semey. The quirky, virtuous, contemporary harmonic lines and chords of Semey take off in an epic bi-protagonistic adventure with the bombastic and intricate drumming by Giovanni Iacovella. Into and through the universe of modern music in all its shapes and forms. Expect nothing, and everything, but mainly an energizing rebirth of the duo with surprises flying like sparks, left and right and center.
