For many years De Ruimte hosted the marvellous Impro Jam series: a meeting point to explore free improvisation and experimental music through collaboration, curiosity, and spontaneous music-making, initiated in 2014 by saxophonist Ada Rave. Each event starts with an initial group of artists, then other musicians are welcome to join with
their instrument and jam on stage!
The opening group will be the trio Jasper Stadhouders / Marcos Baggiani / Ada Rave. They will start with a Misha song and will improvise based on his ideas. As Ada said “anyway, his music is part of our life”.
Mishakosmos Festival (May 25 – June 7) will take place at various locations in Amsterdam, including De Roode Bioscoop, Studio K, Takland, De Richel, OCCII, Splendor, Zaal 100, De Kring, and BIMHUIS. The festival honors and celebrates the wacky and wonderful musical world of composer, pianist, and philosopher Misha Mengelberg (1935-2017). His music is alive as ever and continues to inspire musicians worldwide.
