BRIGADERA
From the eerie lullaby ‘Satan <3’ to the provocative punk-jazz of ‘Alternative Scene’: Italian singer Beatrice Sberna and Brazilian guitarist Gabriel de Oliviera have collected songs in a variety of styles over the years, as can be heard on their debut album. Influences from Italian cantautori and Brazilian folk are cheerfully jumbled together with the help of sonic adventurers from all over the world. Tonight they perform in an intimate setting: as a duo.
Gabriel de Oliveira multi-instrumental | Beatrice Sberna vocals
Eupnea
EUPNEA is a hybrid ensemble of voices and flutes, led by vocalist and composer Vera Morais. The project brings together vocalists and flutists from both jazz and contemporary music, exploring the common ground between the two instruments: timbre, tessitura, and the nuances of sound production. The ensemble functions as a single instrument—a kind of human organ where vocal tracts and flute pipes breathe together. Following the 2023 single “Mirror Error,” the self-titled debut album was released on Carimbo Porta-Jazz in February 2026.
Vera Morais vocals, composition, lyrics | Sarah van Eijk, Almat Kühne vocals | Teresa Costa flute, piccolo | Ketija Ringa-Karahona flute, piccolo, alto flute
THE AMBUSH PARTY
For over fifteen years, The Ambush Party has been luring listeners from Amsterdam into their delightful trap of improvised music. The quartet comprises saxophonist Natalio Sued, cellist Harald Austbø, pianist Oscar Jan Hoogland, and drummer Marcos Baggiani. Their work draws on a wonderfully eclectic mix of styles: noise, tango, opera, drum and bass, cumbia, and jazz. Their musical celebration is inspired by the playful—and at times sharp—tradition of Misha Mengelberg. On the album Weer Een Dag Voorbij (2025), the foursome transforms Mengelberg’s compositions into a danceable sound, bringing an infectious blend of cumbia, tango, and kwela to Orange Jazz Days.

OSCAR JAN HOOGLAND: MINUTE MADE MUSIC
Minute Made Music (MMM) is a large, constantly shapeshifting collective. They switch from adventurous jazz and electronica to Ethiopian nightclub saxophone music, punk from Zaanstad, Chicago hip-hop, and political absurdism, all set against a backdrop of drum ‘n’ bass, classical strings, and Senegalese griot vocals.
Although MMM originated in Amsterdam, its members hail from all corners of the globe, drawing inspiration from a wide range of eras and musical styles. Pianist Oscar Jan Hoogland first assembled the group to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of BIMHUIS. That performance, titled A Trip Through the Years, took place two years ago. “The more eclectic it gets, the more logically it all seems to fit together,” wrote music journalist Peter Bruyn in his review. “By the end of the evening, there was only one possible conclusion: it was fantastic.”
Oscar Jan Hoogland piano | Mola Sylla vocals | Ada Rave saxophone | Benjamin Herman alto saxophone | Mary Oliver violin | Harald Ausbtø cello | Björk Semey bass guitar | Onno Govaert drums
IMPROV ESTAFETTE
The evening will be closed with an improv estafette, where musicians will improvise on stage solo, duo or trio. No rehearsal beforehand, but pure improvisation on the spot. Just like in a real estafette, one musician will start, he will be joined and then leaves the stage and other musicians will enter and leave.
Partiicipating musicians: Guy Salamon, Veerle van der Wal, Federico Calcagno, Beatrice Sberna, Björk Semey, Alistair Payne, Yoran Vroom, Ketija Ringa Karahona, Nabou Claerhout, Gabriel de Oliveira, Alessandro Fongaro, Jamie Peet
