SANEM KALFA’S MIRACULOUS LAYERS

Miraculous Layers is a special project by the Turkish singer Sanem Kalfa, involving pianist Marta Warelis & drummer Sun-Mi Hong, inspired by the period of living in lockdown. Conflicting feelings were processed into new compositions in which Sanem sings, plays cello and uses electronics.

The music in this performance refers to emotional shifts and how the involuntary changes of our lives have reshaped us.

GARDEN CRACK FT MICHAEL MOORE

“Garden Crack” is an Amsterdam based band, that put out its release album this fall 2019. The group is a seemingly classic piano trio but made of unorthodox forward thinking musicians: Omer Govreen (double bass), Nino Baleyte (drums) and Adrian Moncada (piano). This evening they will again team up with reeds player Michael Moore, with whom they also played at the Amarte sessions at De Roode Bioscoop.

Through their collaboration they explore the power of storytelling through songs, but also by making themselves available to be spontaneous in the moment. The repertoire of Garden Crack ranges from original compositions to arrangements of pieces by Bartok and folkloric music.

PIETRO ELIA BARCELLONA

Pietro Elia Barcellona plays his own “Da un respiro, un battito, che non finisce mai”(From a breath, a beat, which never ends). A piece that pays homage to Stefano Scodanibbio and reimagines parts of the composer’s groundbreaking composition “Voyage that never ends” in an attempt to give a personal view of what this journey with the contrabass and music means for Pietro.
