Wanderlust: 12 Tribes of Mars vinyl release concert

In 2022, tenor saxophone player Andrius Deraviancenko was asked to take part in a SITProductions residency. He invited four other musicians to form 12 Tribes of Mars, and together they recorded the first tracks. All members of 12 Tribes are trained jazz musicians that are most comfortable in the borderland between musical genres. In the past years, the band toured the festival circuit and alternative venues of Amsterdam. This evening they are celebrating the release of their first full album, Hidden Sun (on Dubophonic Records).

Rooted in the foundations of reggae, ska, and dub, the band pushes these traditions far beyond their familiar shapes, infusing them with free improvisation, electronics, and an unfiltered experimental spirit. What begins as a deep, infectious groove can quickly fracture into wild, exploratory detours, only to snap back into rhythm as if pulled by gravity. Live performances unfold as intense, psychedelic journeys that double as dance rituals, leaving audiences suspended somewhere between the dancefloor and deep listening.
