Mother Tongue
One of the most exciting bands of today that poetically seizes the moment with full fire and lyricism from different musical languages. With Mola Sylla on vocals and percussion you can expect compelling, surprising and rhythmic music. Born and raised in Dakar, Senegal, Sylla grew up in the tradition of the griots. Griots tell stories, sometimes embellished with music, theater and dance, and play an important role in the culture of West Africa. Sylla plays here together with Amsterdam whirlwind Oscar Jan Hoogland, keyboard player and last student of the late impro legend Misha Mengelberg, and with the Korean Amsterdammer Sun-Mi Hong, absolute virtuoso on the drums who performs in various formations (ao with her own Sun-Mi Hong Quintet).

Greetje Bijma & Raphael Vanoli
Greetje Bijma has been active for decades in improvisation, jazz and electronics with countless solo works and collaborations from De Noodband and Jasper van ‘t Hof to Oceanic and many more. This celebrated Dutch avant-garde artist will embark on a musical adventure with sound magician and guitar whisperer Raphael Vanoli, who has toured all over the world and played with heavyweights such as Jameszoo and Slagwerk Groep Den Haag.

SOFAYA
Bringing a breath of fresh air to the Amsterdam improv scene, South African trumpeter James McClure has formed a new band called SOFAYA as part of SITProductions. In search of the rich and diverse culture of South African music, the octet embraces its compelling grooves and melodies. SOFAYA wants to bring out these characteristics in different styles by playing existing compositions from different generations.
James McClure – trumpet | Joao Guerra – drums | Zenzele Mthembu-Salter – bass | Marta Warelis piano | John Dikeman tenor sax | Diana Dzhabbar alto sax | Lezaam Beets trombone | Christian Chandler trombone
EVE RISSER
Eve Risser is a fresh, authentic and inspiring French musician, composer and arranger of jazz and improvised music. With the flair of her hometown of Paris, she has a unique way of playing the piano. In April she won the North Sea Jazz Paul Acket Award 2023. Her music fuses fantasy with feminism, drawing inspiration from nature, for example in her Red Desert Orchestra.
