WHAT’S UP? MUSICIANS’ UPDATE #12
How is everybody doing in these anonymous and isolated times, without performances? A small tour along the (Amsterdam) improvised music scene to find out.
Ziv Taubenfeld (bass clarinet, composition)
How do you feel?
Now that the sun is out I feel more. The mix of time in isolation and the winter was harsh, passed through many confusing days. I feel very lucky to have my family and of course! the great mysteries of the universe revealing in the form of sound. well, happy to have music. Music that continues undisturbed by corona/ politics and other disasters of our times. The music is untouched (but the musicians are..)
How do you stay inspired?
I’ve read a bunch of interesting books and had the chance to listen to some beautiful music on records, some of those experiences are very mind-opening. Apart from that, luckily, we could still meet and rehearse in small groups- that was the main motivation for sitting down to compose new music. I also started paying more attention to the actual craft of writing notes down, or in other words re-considered how to present information to people who will play my pieces.
Describe in 1 word or sound what it will be like for you when you can perform live with an audience again.
Miracle (like every concert before or after)
