WHAT’S UP? MUSICIANS’ UPDATE #19
How is everybody doing in these anonymous and isolated times, without performances? A small tour along the (Amsterdam) improvised music scene to find out.

How do you feel?
My mood fluctuates a lot between extremely motivated; practicing, juicing fruits and vegetables and exercising, and lethargy; lying on the sofa looking at useless stuff on the internet and ordering a mediocre pizza. At the same time I’m actually very busy with all kinds of work, so that gives me structure, a reason to follow through. Days with sunshine are a lot easier to handle. The things I miss the most are playing in front of people (which no amount of live-streams can possibly compensate for) and travelling (the Dodo doesn’t handle captivity well).
How do you stay inspired?
I find myself being inspired by nature now more than ever, I need to look at trees, the sea or flowers. Any chance I get I try to go out of the city.
I’m searching for inspiration in sources that have nothing to do with neither my practice room nor my computer screen.
