Space is the Place & Goethe-Institut present Raumte: two three-day residencies, both with a presentation concert in the magnificent concert hall of the Goethe-Institut on Amsterdam’s Herengracht canal. We invite creative and out-of-the-box musicians (of all ages) to develop their refreshing and exciting ideas with a new ensemble (between two and four performers). Are you active in jazz or primarily improvised music, do you enjoy experimenting, and do you forge your own path?

– for which residency period you are applying
We offer:
-3 days use of the space (Friday to Sunday)
– backline and technician at your service (there is a Steinway grand piano)
– a public concert on Sunday at 5 pm
– drinks and snacks
– a compensation of € 1000
The possible residency dates for 2026 are:
– June 12-14 (applying between March 11 – April 19)
– October 23-25 (applying between May 1 – August 30)
The Raumte in October is subject to the requirement of at least one musician with a German background.
Space is the Place has a focus on the Amsterdam (improv) scene.
